CardWalleter privacy

CardWalleter turns photos of your cards into Apple Wallet passes. Your photos and the details on your cards stay on your iPhone. This page explains what does leave it, and why.

What stays on your iPhone

The photos you take or pick, the text read from them, names, numbers, dates and barcode values. Reading happens on the phone. Your cards are saved in the app on your iPhone only, and are included in your iPhone backups if you back up your phone. CardWalleter has no account and no server copy of your cards. Passes you add to Apple Wallet are kept by Apple Wallet, which syncs them through iCloud if you have that turned on.

What leaves your iPhone, and why

Apple Wallet only accepts passes signed with a certificate, so each pass is signed by our signing service. The app sends it a list of the pass's file names and a checksum of each file. A checksum cannot be turned back into your photos or details. With it, the app sends a proof from Apple's App Attest service that the request comes from a genuine copy of CardWalleter, so nobody else can use the service. The signing service runs on Vercel and does not store requests; Vercel keeps standard request logs, such as IP address and time, for a short period.

Places on the lock screen

You can give a card places where Wallet may offer it on the lock screen. When you tap “Use where I am now”, CardWalleter reads your location once, on your iPhone, and saves it only in that card and its pass. It is not sent to us. When you search for a place by name, the words you type are sent to Apple Maps to find it, under Apple's privacy policy; CardWalleter does not keep or send them anywhere else.

What we do not do

No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. We do not sell or share anything, because we do not receive your data. If you turn on the app lock, Face ID or Touch ID is handled by iOS; the app never receives biometric data.

Deleting your data

Swipe a card to delete it in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it saved. Remove a pass from Apple Wallet from the pass's details.

Children

CardWalleter is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.
